On September 18, 2013, as soon as the Tzu Chi volunteers finished the breakfast-time relief distribution and school service, they quickly left San Jose and drove for an hour to one of the California’s most prosperous farming districts—Salinas. Salinas enjoys a natural sea breeze that blows in from the Monterey Bay and gives it the perfect climate for farming.
