On the evening of April 17, a big explosion occurred in a fertilizer factory in the town of West, Texas, while emergency services personnel were responding to a fire at the facility. The disaster caused 15 deaths, injured more than 160 people, and damaged or destroyed more than 150 buildings in the vicinity of the factory.
