Dreams Come True For Scholarship Award Winners

Tzu Chi USA Mid-Atlantic Region established the scholarship program in 1998. It provides need-based financial assistance to college-bound high school graduates who have a GPA of 3.0 or above. Beginning 2014, this program was extended to graduates from special schools such as schools for the deaf. In early January, Tzu Chi mailed out 390 copies of scholarship application forms to schools for low income families to apply regardless of their race, gender, or religion. In mid March, Tzu Chi received applications from 86 students. A review team was formed to review the applications. This team also conducted home visits and interviews to further understand each family’s financial situation and needs. After careful evaluation of each application, 25 scholars were selected for the 2014 scholarship program.Read more...
