Educational Services, Tzu Chi Foundation, U.S.A. has an immediate opening for Elementary School Teacher. The Elementary School Teacher is responsible for promoting Tzu Chi’s educational mission. Must have the ability to communicate orally and in writing with knowledge of Microsoft Office. Bilingual in Chinese and English will be a plus. And also be able to work on weekends to fulfill position duties. In addition, reliable transportation with an acceptable driving record and a valid related requirement license is needed. Must pass the Department of Justice background check.

Title: Elementary School Teacher

Job description:

1.Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to students in a classroom, utilizing the appropriate learning activities, following curriculum guidelines or requirements of states and schools.

2. Assigns and grade class work and homework, organize and label materials, display students’ work.

3. Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers or other experiential activities, and guide students in learning from those activities.

4. Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter.

5. Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.

6. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.

7. Uses a variety of instruction strategies, such as inquiry, group discussion, lecture, discovery, etc.

8. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.

9. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.

10. Observes and Evaluates students’ performance, behavior, social growth and physical health; keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.

11. Communicates with parents and guardians through conferences and other means to resolve students’ needs.

12. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.

13. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.

14. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with state testing program.

15. Participates in curriculum development programs as required.

16. Select, store, order, issue and inventory classroom equipment, materials and supplies.

Job requirements:

Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field

Experience: At least five (5) years of successful teaching experience in a elementary school and CBEST is a plus
