| Payroll and Benefit Assistant (Location: San Dimas) |
Tzu Chi Foundation, U.S.A. has an immediate opening for Payroll and Benefit Assistant. The Payroll and Benefit Assistant must be bilingual in Chinese and English and must pass the Department of Justice background check.
Payroll and Benefit Assistant
This individual will demonstrate a solid understanding of payroll principals, practices and standards. This role is responsible for all aspects of processing payroll to ensure a timely and accurate delivery of payroll and all related reporting. The role reports to the Human Resources Director for co-ordination of interdependent processes and general instruction on new assignments. This individual will work closely with Employees/Supervisors/Managers, Benefits, and H.R. Business Partners.
Job Responsibilities:
- Independently administer the complete high volume bi-weekly (salary including sales commission) payroll cycle utilizing a computer based system (Paychex/Preview) and multiple vendor interfaces.
- Analyze computer-produced downloads, payments and reports for accuracy and compliance.
- Provide customer service to all levels of the organization including multi-state sales representatives.
- Create queries and ad hoc reports utilizing Report Writer and Excel software.
- Interpret pay policies (e.g. vacation, LOA, disability) and ensure appropriate amounts/deductions are calculated and applied to various accounts correctly.
- Contribute to audit compliance.
- Manage and monitor government regulated earnings and deductions including garnishments and 401(k).
Requirements:
At least 1-2 years of experience administering the complete high volume multi-state payroll process for 600+ employees is required. This includes auditing payroll and tax reports, scheduling and transmitting vendor interfaces, troubleshooting, and providing customer service.
A Bachelors degree, with an emphasis in Human Resources, Business, Accounting, Computer Systems or other related fields.
Additional requirements include: strong verbal, written and analytical skills; broad knowledge of all aspects of payroll and payroll associated benefits, proven client service and results orientation, accountability to clients' perceptions, team performance and internal relationship management. The ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment is needed. Also required is a demonstrated high level of proficiency in Excel, as well as proficiency in MS office and H.R./Payroll applications.
