2010 TZU CHI Free Income Tax Preparation – VITA Program ¡· Tzu Chi USA

San Dimas, Calif. —Families earning less than $49,000 a year can have their income tax returns prepared for free in S. El Monte with Tzu Chi Foundation VITA program, if they qualify.

Qualifying taxpayers need to bring photo identification, Social Security cards for each family member or ITIN (Individual Tax Identification Number) cards, W-2 forms, 1099 forms, a copy of last year’s tax return, expenses documentation: rental expenses, education expenses, or child care expenses, and other relevant tax documentations.

The VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income (generally, $49,000 and below) people who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Certified volunteers sponsored by various organizations receive training to help prepare basic tax returns in communities across the country. Most locations also offer free electronic filing.
